Quality Family Time With Lucy & Luke

The reason I never valued my business was because I let my business dictate to me what I did and when I did it. Family time was non existent as I spent to much time at work. When I started in business I thought the harder I worked the more success I would have.

So I worked hard to make the money, thinking money would solve all my problems. I spent 7 days a week working on my business to get it making money, then I worked harder to deal with the problems a bigger company challenged me with. I could never switch off and ended up resenting the business.

I also resented people in my life who wanted my time. I saw them as a distraction, people who wanted to take me away from my goals. I told myself that I was right to work hard and when I ha the money everyone would be happy with me.

What happened was, by the time I made money I was fat, unhealthy, tired and lonely. I’d lost the people around me as they were used to me turning them down.

Why my business should have been everything I wanted

My Home care business made a small fortune, I took it to struggling to thriving. I had lovely offices, staff and lots of money in the bank, but I was unhappy. As mentioned I’d lost what was important. If I had taken time to learn from others and implement better strategies, I would have had more time for others and myself.

If I had worked on my health rather than let it decline, worked on my family and relationships and worked on being a happier person, then I would have seen my business in a different light. Unfortunately, all I worked on was the business. Which is ironic because you would have thought i’d at least be happy with that part of my life? But what is the point of a great business if you have noone to share success with? If you are unhealthy and unhappy, is money in the bank a good thing?

Don’t get me wrong, having money is great, it gives you choices but choices are only good if you have the right mental health to take advantage of them. When your mental health isn’t great you don’t value anything. And this is key, my business should have been everything I wanted and in reality it was, however because I only focussed on my business I couldn’t see how great it was. My mental health wouldn’t allow it, so I neglected the business and it to suffered as well.
