Before we get into the nitty gritty of building foundations I want to share a private moment with you all. I think it’s important to share because we often work so hard we forget what is important.
The day to day stress of Home Care can lead us away from our visions and personal plans. We get lost in covering rotas, paying bills and helping others we often forget to help ourselves.

My Wife and I Have a Memory Box

This week my wife & I had a shock to our system with regards to looking after each other and creating memories. We have a memory box where we write our best memories and store keepsakes for the future. Last year we wrote each other letters that we sealed, not to be opened for 12 months.


Last week we got to open the letters. Below are three things I learned after reading the letter I wrote……….

  1. I’ve had a good year but I could have tried harder.

  2. I hadn’t achieved some of the things I wrote about.

  3. I Love my wife more than ever and felt I’d let her down.

Now you may think the above is a bit sad and the exercise was a failure. I’d understand why you would think that. However as said at the stated - ‘ The day to day stress of Home Care can lead us away from our visions and personal plans’

The exercise was actually a great reminder of what’s important. It gave me a kick to think about how I can make things better. How can I build my business so it doesn’t take me away from my personal plans. What can I do differently.

We get what we tolerate and if we don’t change we will mainly get the same results. So my letter inspired changes, it’s made me think of a better way which leads me nicely into what I want you to take away from this newsletter…….

Working with home Care providers I often find they come to me, stressed, over worked, underpaid and have no quality of life. They feel overwhelmed about making changes and are putting up with what they have.

So I always remind them - We get what we tolerate!!!

I tell then, there is a better way and it doesn’t take long. All they have to do is -

  1. Make a decision to change - Everything starts with a thought. If you make a decision then you are on the right path.

    All you need is -

A. Plan
B. Discipline
C. Persistence

The Plan starts with deciding on the core foundations for your business. Once you have them, with discipline and persistence you will build a strong company that gives you back time and plenty of money.

If not then you will need to work out what will help you the most. An example of some good foundations for a Home Care Company could be as below:

1. Clear Business Goals and Vision:

4. Comprehensive Marketing Strategy:
5. Multi-Channel Marketing Presence:
6. Optimized Sales Funnel:
7. Consistent Brand Messaging and Positioning:
8. Performance Tracking and Analytics:
9. Scalable Systems and Automation:
10. Team Skills and Resources:

Think for a second. If you, as the Home Care Owner could get yourself out of the Day to Day running of the business for 90 minutes a day. Then do just 1 thing a day to improve each of the above. How would that impact your business 1 year from now?

If you wrote a letter to your company as I did my wife & highlighted what you want to achieve over the next 12 months, then you instilled discipline and persistence to make each foundation better every day.  WHAT COULD THAT DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

My guess, it would build you a successful company, a profitable company and a company that gives you freedom to spend time with your family.

The stress will go away and the time spent with loved ones will energize you to achieve even more.
